Vocational Training

Maithree strongly believes that all Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDD) irrespective of their degree of disability can become productive, provided they get an appropriate and suitable opportunity, thereby empowering them economically.

To harness this potential and maximize their output, these persons are strategically involved in tasks that leverage their ability duly incorporating innovation with the help of technology to enhance their productivity.

An Individualized Vocational Training Plan (IVTP) is developed based on their aptitude, needs and vocational ability. And this is spread over two years. An individualized quarterly target at the task level is fixed for all apprentices and an external team examines them. Their skill is evaluated by “On the Job Training” (OJT) basis, which is reviewed on a six- monthly basis.

On completion of the 2 year training period, they move on with acquired skills either at the Task level or Product level, suitably trained to work in a Assistedenvironment. Maithree provides placement opportunities at their existing vocation centres or the apprentices are facilitated to start a Assistedworkshop as independent players.
