Special Education at Maithree – Nurturing Potential, One Step at a Time
At Maithree, education is more than academics – it is a journey of empowerment, inclusion, and independence. Our structured Special Education Programme supports children with intellectual and developmental disabilities from birth to 18 years, helping them unlock their potential and build a foundation for a meaningful life.
Our Approach to Learning
Each child is unique, and so is their learning path. Through Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), our qualified special educators create customised learning goals, blending academics with life skills. Parents are partners in this journey, ensuring continuity and consistency at home and school.
Core Components of the Programme
Functional Training
Children are guided through activities of daily living (ADL) — including self-care, hygiene, and personal responsibility — helping them build confidence and independence for everyday life.
Functional Academics
We focus on practical academics like reading, writing, time management, and money handling, enabling children to prepare for adulthood and active participation in society.
Integrated Therapeutics
Our programme blends speech, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy to enhance communication, motor coordination, and sensory processing — creating a strong foundation for learning.
Co-curricular Activities
Through art, craft, sports, yoga, music, and cultural events, we ensure holistic development, nurturing creativity, teamwork, and a lifelong love for learning.
Our Impact
For over 30 years, Maithree’s education programme has transformed hundreds of lives – creating children who are not just educated, but empowered to live with dignity, confidence, and inclusion.
